You might have a lot of questions. The FAQ page deals with questions that are asked repeatedly. How to tie a tie, how to whistle or how to cook quinoa. But if you have questions about Outdoor Spirit, please visit this page first for help on a variety of topics. It’s an excellent way to help you become better informed about us.
WHAT IS THE OUTDOOR SPIRITS’S MISSION AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
The mission of the Outdoor Spirit is to Bring Paper Back To Life and Make Someone Smile Today.
This is one great way for conserving natural resources. Recycling stuff is awesome, but actually turning old stuff and garbage into something new and useful is even more awesome! Reusing your waste is the best option in the waste hierarchy. It’s an even better option than recycling, because a substantial amount of energy is being saved in not re-manufacturing the product.
We receive unusable paper from manufacturers. This usually includes product that is out of specification or damaged. From this paper we made everyday occasion greetings cards. We protect our planet and help people make emotional connections with other nature lovers.
We also collaborate with partner organizations in the field and with other influencers to further our mission. We are committed to supporting our nonprofit partners essential work in five core focus areas: climate, land, pollution, water, and wildlife.
WHAT KIND OF PAPER DO YOU USE FOR THE GREETING CARDS?
We use 100% recycled paper. Outdoor Spirit greeting cards are made from mill broke and both from pre-consumer waste and post-consumer waste. Mill broke is paper trimmings and other paper scrap from the manufacture of paper, and is recycled in a paper mill. Pre-consumer waste is a material which left the paper mill but was discarded before it was ready for consumer use. Post-consumer waste is material discarded after consumer use, such as old corrugated containers (OCC), old magazines, and newspapers.
HOW DO YOU SAVE THE ENERGY?
When a product is made from pre-consumer recycled content, it’s made from manufacturer waste that never actually made it to the consumer for one reason or another: scraps, rejects, trimmings — the stuff that ends up on the factory floor and is repurposed into something new rather than trashed. Substantial amount of energy is being saved in not re-manufacturing the product.
